Netanyahu Accuses Hezbollah of “Serious Violation” of Ceasefire
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Hezbollah on Monday of committing a “serious violation” of the ceasefire, warning that Israel would respond forcefully after an attack on an Israeli military site in a border area.
Netanyahu stated in a press release: “Hezbollah’s firing at an Israeli site constitutes a grave breach of the ceasefire. Israel will respond harshly to this.” He added, “We are determined to maintain the ceasefire and address any violation by Hezbollah, whether minor or significant,” according to Agence France-Presse.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant also pledged a “harsh response” following the attack, marking the first of its kind since the ceasefire began. Writing on X (formerly Twitter), Gallant stated, “We promised to act against any ceasefire violations by Hezbollah, and that’s precisely what we will do.”
The Israeli military reported Monday evening that Hezbollah had launched two rockets toward military positions near Mount Dov (Har Dov), both landing in open areas without causing injuries. Hezbollah confirmed targeting the Roueisat Al-Alam site in what it called a “preliminary defensive warning” against repeated Israeli violations of the ceasefire.
The ceasefire agreement in Lebanon came into effect last Wednesday, ending over a year of sporadic clashes between Israel and Hezbollah.
