Central Bank Mandates Activation of Banking Apps

Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The Central Bank of Sudan has issued a directive requiring banks to enhance, activate, and develop their banking applications to provide electronic banking services to customers. The applications must be operational 24/7 to ensure clients can fully utilize banking services.
The directive also instructed banks to immediately integrate their applications with available interconnection platforms to ensure compatibility and facilitate interbank transfers.
Furthermore, the Central Bank stipulated the use of the Basic Bank Account Number (BBAN) for customer-to-customer transfers between different banks via the applications.
For interbank transfers, a daily limit of 1 million SDG per customer has been set through the apps, while the transfer limit within accounts of a single bank remains at 15 million SDG per day.
This initiative aligns with the Central Bank’s directives to expand electronic banking services and promote digital payments.
