Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The Minister of Culture and Information and government spokesperson, Khalid Al-Eisair, revealed that the Sudanese government had called on the Arab League to convene an urgent meeting to neutralize certain countries within its umbrella that are interfering in Sudanese affairs. He called on the League to adopt a project aimed at limiting international interference in Sudan’s national issues.
Al-Eisair told (Sudan News Agency) after a meeting in Port Sudan on Monday with an Arab League delegation led by Ahmed Aboul Gheit, “We rely on the Arab League to play a significant role in the coming period, especially since most regional and international organizations have turned their backs on us in this battle and suspended Sudan’s membership, while the Arab League did not.” He added that there are interventions from some countries under the League’s umbrella, and Sudan hopes the League will play a role in neutralizing these countries through an emergency summit.
Al-Eisair concluded, “We rely on the Arab League due to Sudan’s strong ties with the League, to play a central role in supporting the Sudanese people and Sudan in this battle.”
He further stated, “We want to renew Khartoum’s three no’s through the Arab League at the end of this year: No to interference in Sudanese affairs, No to aggression against the Sudanese people, and No to dismantling the Sudanese state.”
