Sudan Events – Reports
The High Committee for Currency Exchange in Gedaref State held its regular meeting, chaired by the Acting Governor, Lt. Gen. Mohamed Ahmed Hassan Ahmed, to review the progress of currency exchange operations on their fifth day.
The meeting discussed performance updates through reports presented by heads of security, technical, administrative, financial, and media committees. It emphasized the need to intensify media efforts to encourage citizens to open bank accounts and facilitate account opening processes using valid identification documents.
The committee also addressed a request from farmers and the Business Owners’ Union to raise the daily withdrawal limit to accommodate ongoing harvest operations, given the workers’ limited familiarity with banking technologies. The meeting agreed to forward this request to the central High Committee.
The Governor reaffirmed the state’s commitment to completing the exchange process efficiently and praised the smoothness of current procedures and the collaboration of all entities in the state. He directed the High Committee to provide immediate solutions through daily follow-ups.
