Bank Manager in Al-Qadarif Calls for Inclusion of Disabled Groups in the Banking Sector
Sudan Events – Follow-up
The branch manager of Al-Balad Bank in Al-Qadarif, Sir Al-Khatim Hussein, called for the inclusion of disabled groups in the banking sector, as it represents an integration of these groups.
He advocated for linking banking applications between banks and not restricting the process of transfers to banking apps alone, in addition to utilizing solar energy systems for transfers made with ordinary phones, as is done in many African countries in the region.
He pointed out that the Saraj system for instant transfers is operating efficiently despite the pressure it faces.
He confirmed that the decision to replace the currency came under exceptional circumstances, including the exit of the national switch for banks, in addition to the absence of ATMs and the malfunctioning of point-of-sale systems. He added that if these services were available, the success of the project would have been greater than it is now.
He explained that the purpose of replacing the currency was to bring the cash into the banking system, which would promote financial inclusion. He noted that the banking sector has been significantly impacted by the war.
He also mentioned that Al-Qadarif contains a very large cash mass, but a wide segment of the public relies on cash, urging people to take advantage of the currency replacement decision and increasingly rely on bank accounts.
He emphasized that having the cash mass within the banking system allows the state to direct funding to productive sectors, which would positively impact development.
