Zakat Office in Shendi Increases its Target by 200% for This Year

Sudan Events – Agencies
The Secretary of the Zakat Office in Shendi, Ayoub Ahmed Abdel-Majid, announced that the estimated target for the Zakat Office in Shendi this year had increased by 200% compared to the previous year.
He explained that this significant increase is due to logical reasons, including that the Zakat funds from the safe states should help cover some of the Zakat expenses in war-affected states, in addition to supporting the war effort and meeting the needs of the displaced.
Abdel-Majid pointed out that the commercial and industrial activities in the safe states have increased as businesses have moved from Khartoum, and that the increase in the target can be achieved with more diligence and continuous work.
He revealed that the Zakat Office’s plan for the new year is to go to the poor in their areas rather than having them come to the Zakat Office.
He explained that a workshop for the grassroots committees of the Zakat Committees, which was recently held in Shendi with the attendance of the Director General of the Zakat Sciences Institute, a representative of the Secretary General of the Federal Zakat Office, and the Secretary of the Zakat Office in the Nile River State, produced important recommendations to activate the grassroots committees and increase effectiveness in reaching the largest number of the poor in their locations.
