The United States government has escalated its rhetoric against the Rapid Support Forces militia.
Samantha Power, the Director of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), stated that the U.S. government relied on extensive documentary evidence to conclude that the militia forces committed genocide in Sudan. Power explained that some of the evidence included videos filmed by militia members themselves. She added, “The fact that these criminals not only felt bold enough to commit these crimes, but also to document them and even boast about them on video, is a chilling testament to the consequences of decades of impunity for atrocities and genocide.”
