Attempt to Smuggle Foreign Currency Foiled at Port Sudan Airport

Customs authorities at Port Sudan International Airport, through the Senkat shift in the departure hall, seized 101,500 Saudi Riyals from one of the passengers.
The Acting Director-General of Customs, Major General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, explained that this seizure demonstrates the high level of security awareness among customs officers, as well as the use of modern equipment to inspect passengers and their belongings.
On his part, Major General Bakr Youssef Bakr, the Assistant Director-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs, confirmed that during 2025, Customs authorities will implement new programs and plans to further enhance performance and improve electronic monitoring.
The Director of the Red Sea Customs, Colonel Hisham Mohamed Al-Hassan, praised the seizure and the strength of the shift, consisting of officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers who achieved this success. He called for continued efforts to ensure more effective monitoring.
Colonel Khalid Othman Al-Faki, Director of Port Sudan Airport Customs, reaffirmed their full commitment to streamlining and expediting passenger procedures while ensuring that customs procedures comply with international standards. He emphasized that the airport’s workforce has sufficient expertise to detect and intercept smuggling attempts through vigilance and electronic surveillance systems.
