Clarification On Shambat Bridge Destruction

Director General of Khartoum State Sanitation Authority, a specialist in bridge construction science at the International University of Africa, Dr. Montasir Mamoun, said that the Rapid Support (RSF) militia targeted Shambat Bridge between the two pillars that led to complete collapse of the span.

He added in a press statement on Saturday , “Accordingly, from the beginning it seems that the structural system has collapsed around the two pillars (it forms the letter T with the pillar), and what has not collapsed yet (mostly) is removed later or the structural system is modified.”

He continued, “So the part that needs rehabilitation is about 170 meters, and the good thing is that the supports are not exposed to collapse or injury.”
