Foreign Ministry: Consultations to Form Government Begin

The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed the start of consultations to launch an inclusive Sudanese political process that excludes no one, with the aim of forming a national competency-based government to lead the country during the transitional period, focusing on reconstruction efforts.

 

During his meeting with Annette Weber, the European Union’s envoy to the Horn of Africa, Foreign Minister Ali Yusuf praised the opportunities for cooperation between the two sides, as well as the statement issued by the European Union supporting Sudan’s unity and stability and rejecting efforts to form a parallel government.

 

The Foreign Minister provided an update on the developments in Sudan and the efforts made by the Sudanese government to end the war and establish peace and stability across the country.

 

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European official affirmed the European Union’s full support for an inclusive political process in Sudan without exclusion or discrimination.

 

During the meeting, Weber emphasized the EU’s commitment to ensuring peace and stability in Sudan, recognizing its importance within the Horn of Africa region. The discussions also covered Sudan-EU relations and the willingness of EU institutions to cooperate with Sudan to support stability and development in the country.
