Britain: “A Large Number” of Countries Ready to Send Peacekeeping Forces to Ukraine

A spokesperson for British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on Monday that a “large number” of countries are willing to provide peacekeeping forces for Ukraine if a peace agreement with Russia is reached.
The spokesperson noted that more than 30 countries are expected to participate in the so-called “Coalition of the Willing” to support Ukraine, according to Reuters.
He told reporters: “The contributions will vary, but this will be a substantial force, with a large number of countries providing troops.”
This comes as the European Union’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, has proposed aid for Ukraine amounting to between 20 and 40 billion euros ($22–44 billion).
EU foreign ministers are set to discuss a new initiative at their meeting on Monday, which could provide billions of euros in additional military aid to Ukraine, with contributions from EU member states based on their economic strength.
Other topics on the meeting’s agenda include EU relations with the United States, policy toward Iran, and the situation in the Middle East.
A conference on Syria is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. (00:14 GMT) after the meeting, aiming to mobilize more support for the Syrian people in the war-torn country and for Syrian refugees abroad.
