The head of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) civil administration in East Darfur, Mohamed Idris Khater, announced a general mobilization and state of alert in the state.
This declaration comes as the Sudanese army advances in West Kordofan, a neighboring state to East Darfur.
In a statement reported by Darfur24, Khater said that the mobilization order was issued due to current national challenges and security threats, as well as to maintain the safety of civilians.
He emphasized the need to rally the RSF’s human and material resources and called on youth and professionals to join the ranks of the militia and provide support.
The rebel leader also banned any activities or behaviors that could hinder mobilization efforts or threaten public security. He announced penalties for anyone who opposes or refuses to implement the order, stating they would be subject to punishment under what he referred to as the emergency law.
The emergency order directed the formation of mobilization and alert committees across localities and administrative units, under the supervision of the state security committee.
