The official spokesperson for the Joint Forces, Colonel Ahmed Hussein Mustafa, stated that the city of El Fasher witnessed intense artillery shelling by the Rapid Support Forces militia on Monday.
In a statement to Al-Muhaqiq news outlet, Mustafa confirmed that the shelling was accompanied by infiltration attempts from the southern axis of the city. He added, “Our forces confronted and dealt with the infiltration, bringing the situation under control,” affirming that the situation in El Fasher is stable and that the enemy suffered heavy casualties. “Those from the RSF who survived fled in defeat,” he said.
The spokesperson also pointed out that the ceasefire proposal put forward by UN Secretary-General António Guterres was welcomed by the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, the Governor of Darfur Region, and the commander of the joint forces of the armed struggle movements. He added that the other party (RSF) has not issued any official statement or position regarding the proposal, except for comments from RSF advisers indicating they are not committed to the ceasefire. He continued, “Therefore, we cannot take any steps unless the other party officially agrees to it.”
