Women’s AFCON: Nigeria Knocks Out Title Holders, Reaches Final

Nigeria has reached the final of the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations, currently being held in Morocco, with a 2–1 win over defending champions South Africa on Tuesday at Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca, in the semifinal round.

Nigeria will meet the winner of the other semifinal between Morocco and Ghana, taking place later today.

Nigeria took the lead in the 45th minute through Rasheedat Ajibade via a penalty. South Africa equalized in the 61st minute with a penalty scored by Linda Motlhalo.

In the fourth minute of stoppage time, Nigeria scored the winning goal through Michelle Olozie, who sent a surprise cross from the right flank that deceived goalkeeper Andile Dlamini and ended up in the net.
