At Least 70 Dead or Injured in Militia Attack in Kordofan

Doctors reported Thursday that at least 70 people were killed or injured in attacks carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on villages north of Al-Nuhud in West Kordofan State.

The Sudanese Doctors Network stated in a press release that “the death toll from the Brima Rasheed massacre has risen to 27, with 43 others seriously wounded, following a renewed treacherous attack by the RSF on the area north of Al-Nuhud in West Kordofan.”

The statement noted that the attacking forces assaulted unarmed civilians — including women, children, and the elderly — in their homes, in a bloody scene reminiscent of the most heinous crimes against humanity.

The network condemned what it described as a “heinous crime” and held the RSF leadership responsible for the bloodshed, deeming the crimes committed in Brima Rasheed to be war crimes and crimes against humanity that demand urgent international action.

“This massacre represents a dangerous continuation of the systematic violations perpetrated by the RSF against civilians across several states, amid deafening local and international silence and deliberate disregard for the suffering of the Sudanese people,” the statement added.

The network called on the international community to take urgent action against the RSF leadership, including designating the force as a terrorist organization to halt its violations against civilians in areas under its control, and to open humanitarian corridors to rescue those forcibly displaced from their homes.
