The Emergency Operations Center held its 100th meeting at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Health in Khartoum, reviewing the country’s health situation and interventions over the past week.
Undersecretary Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim praised the tireless efforts of all center staff across different departments, working from Khartoum, Madani, Kassala, and Port Sudan, without faltering throughout the years of war.
He emphasized the need for federal support to Darfur and Kordofan states, either directly or through international and UN organizations. “The Sudanese citizen is the focus of our service wherever they may be,” he said, calling for ensuring the rights of emergency workers in Darfur.
Dr. Ibrahim also addressed the ongoing siege in North Darfur and urged efforts to break it in order to deliver essential services and save lives.
The meeting also reviewed reports from various departments, particularly on epidemics and interventions during week 29, revealing:
1,913 cases of cholera, including 43 deaths across 12 states.
61 cases of dengue fever (all in Khartoum) with no deaths.
26 cases of hepatitis, including 4 deaths in Al-Jazira State.
35 measles cases in North Darfur and Khartoum with no fatalities.
The seasonal rains affected 13 localities across 3 states, impacting 60 families.
