77 Tons of Banned and Expired Goods Destroyed in Port Sudan

The General Directorate of Legal Affairs and Violations, in coordination with the Red Sea Customs Administration, has destroyed approximately 77 tons of banned and expired goods in Port Sudan. The operation was overseen by Police Major General Mohamed Al-Nour Ali, Assistant Director-General for Customs Operations, representing the Director-General of the Customs Authority.
The items destroyed included expired food products, creams, cosmetics, damaged cigarettes, and used clothing.
Major General Al-Nour affirmed that the move reflects the Customs Authority’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding public health and safety, and combating the smuggling and circulation of contraband goods. He emphasized that customs will continue to tighten controls across all customs checkpoints and border crossings.
For his part, Brigadier Police Jumaa Abdelsalam, Director of the General Directorate of Legal Affairs and Violations, revealed that the value of the destroyed goods amounts to 1.4 billion Sudanese pounds.
He stressed that the Customs Authority will not tolerate violations of customs laws and regulations, and will continue to pursue legal enforcement through customs monitoring across all ports of entry, to ensure the highest standards of public safety and health.
