Russia: We Reject Any Attempts Targeting Sudan’s Stability

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin reiterated his country’s firm stance in supporting Sudan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity, condemning any attempts aimed at destabilizing Sudan.

During a meeting at the Russian Foreign Ministry in Moscow, Vershinin welcomed Sudan’s Ambassador to Russia, Mohamed Al-Ghazali Siraj, and Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Al-Harith Idris. He praised the high level of coordination between the two countries in international forums, particularly the cooperation between their missions in New York on Security Council issues concerning Sudan.

Ambassador Mohamed Al-Ghazali provided a comprehensive briefing on developments in Sudan, highlighting the actions taken by militias and their backers, including the declaration of the so-called “Presidential Council of the Sudanese Establishment Alliance” led by rebel leader Hemeti, and the distribution of fictitious positions to alliance leaders, known as the “parallel government.” He noted that this move has drawn widespread condemnation from both regional and international communities for undermining Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial unity.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Al-Harith Idris praised the distinguished coordination between Sudan and Russia at the UN missions, expressing gratitude for Russia’s supportive stance toward Sudan and its principled position backing the country’s unity and sovereignty.

He also reviewed the latest developments on the UN Security Council’s Sudan agenda, affirming confidence in Russia’s continued support for Sudan’s positions.

The two sides also discussed various bilateral issues and ways to support and develop relations, especially in economic fields, emphasizing the importance of activating private sector participation in Sudan’s reconstruction efforts through the upcoming meetings of the joint economic and trade committee.
