Militia Detains Teachers

The Sudanese Teachers’ Committee reported that the Rapid Support Forces militia detained several of its members in Ad-Du’ayn in South Darfur State, accusing them of receiving and distributing teachers’ salaries from the federal government.

In a statement, the committee named the detainees as Dud Mahdi Dud, Al-Hadi Ali, Omar Al-Tayeb, Zakin Al-Jali Doreen, and Hamed Ibrahim Mubasher. It said they were charged with “collaborating with the Port Sudan government” and receiving monthly salaries for teachers.

The committee condemned the arrests as violations, holding the RSF fully responsible for the safety of the detained teachers, and called for their immediate release. It urged human rights organizations and advocates to intervene and halt what it described as a systematic targeting of civilians and teachers.
