Sudan’s Sovereign Council Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, issued a decree placing all auxiliary forces operating alongside the army under the provisions of the 2007 Armed Forces Act and its amendments.
The army’s spokesperson said in a statement that “all such forces shall now operate under the command of Armed Forces leaders in all regions,” adding that the decree takes effect on August 16, 2025.
