For a second consecutive day, heavy clashes continued Thursday between the army and its allies against RSF forces near El-Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan State, with the Joint Force announcing that it had inflicted major losses on the militia.
Local sources told Sudan Tribune that army forces, backed by armed movements, pushed west of El-Obeid, where they engaged in fierce battles in Um Qaoud and near Um Sumaymah, causing significant RSF losses.
Joint Force-affiliated platforms released footage showing dozens of destroyed vehicles, alongside others captured, as well as RSF fighters killed.
Joint Force spokesman Ahmed Hussein Mustafa said in a statement that their forces eliminated RSF’s “Group 50” in the town of Abu Qaoud, destroyed 130 combat vehicles, seized 92 others in working condition, and captured a number of fighters.
