In a humanitarian tragedy, six members of a single family died on Monday in Neivasha camp, north of El-Fasher, after suffering from hunger, malnutrition, and poisoning from eating animal feed in the absence of timely humanitarian intervention.
The victims were identified by the El-Fasher Resistance Committees as Mariam Tendl Suleiman, Salha Suleiman Bidi, mother Amani Fath al-Rahman, and children Saber, Saeed, and Sabri.
“These innocent souls, struggling to survive under dire conditions, passed away in silence, leaving behind a story of suffering that reflects the harsh reality faced by residents of El-Fasher,” the committees said in a statement.
They added that this was not the first such tragedy, highlighting the devastating impact of hunger and poverty in the displacement camps, where insecurity prevents documentation and international attention.
The committees issued an urgent appeal to the international community and humanitarian organizations to support relief kitchens in North El-Fasher and provide immediate food and medical assistance. “This catastrophe underscores the desperate need for collective action to save the lives still threatened by famine and neglect,” the statement concluded.
