EU Urges US to Reconsider Ban on Palestinian Officials Attending UN Assembly

European Union foreign ministers have urged the United States to reconsider its decision not to allow Palestinian officials to take part in the UN General Assembly in New York, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said on Saturday.
Speaking after a meeting of the ministers in the Danish capital Copenhagen, Kallas also said she had asked EU governments to submit proposals next week for another package of sanctions against Russia over its war in Ukraine.
Also, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez spoke with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday to tell him that Madrid supports him after the US denied him the visa to attend the United Nations gathering.
The visa denial is “unjust”, Sanchez said in a post on social media platform X.
