The West Darfur state government affirmed that attempts to install a parallel government in Nyala will not change the realities on the ground, emphasizing that legitimacy rests solely with the state and the army.
West Darfur Governor General Baher Eldin Adam Karama told Al-Muhaqiq news site that the announcement of a “Government of Establishment” is merely a media façade for a militia in collapse. He stressed that field plans to regain control of every inch of Darfur are ongoing and that no entity threatening Sudan’s unity will be tolerated.
The governor described the Government of Establishment as a reckless venture that will hasten its demise, calling it a desperate attempt to fabricate legitimacy and a sign of the militia’s weakness in the face of the Sudanese army and joint forces. He affirmed that Darfur will be governed only through national institutions.
He added that the events in Nyala would provide further motivation for the state government and security forces to continue the campaign to cleanse Darfur and restore stability, announcing plans to intensify military and security operations, activate civil administration in reclaimed areas, and launch urgent reconstruction and service restoration initiatives.
