Families of Detainees in Militia Custody Appeal to Burhan to Address Their Case

Families of detainees held by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have appealed to General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, to open the file on prisoners held by the militia. The families described the issue as the most urgent due to its humanitarian dimensions, affecting nearly every Sudanese household and resonating with the collective conscience of the nation.

In a statement, the families emphasized that the detainees are fathers, sons, and brothers who have paid the price of the ongoing conflict, deserving responsibility and compassion. The statement noted that steps toward releasing the prisoners or arranging a dignified exchange would be a courageous move credited to the leadership and could open the door to long-awaited calm.

Acknowledging the difficulty of the path ahead, the statement expressed confidence that a bold decision could make a real difference, emphasizing that the Sudanese army possesses the wisdom and experience to take positions reflecting the greatness of the people and preserving the nation’s social fabric.
