Sisi Invites Burhan to Visit Egypt

Chairman of Sudan’s Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, received a written message from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Wednesday regarding bilateral relations and ways to strengthen and develop them.

The message was delivered by Egyptian Ambassador Hany Salah in the presence of Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs Hussein Al-Amin.

Ambassador Salah described the meeting as positive, emphasizing the importance of enhancing the distinguished relations between the two countries, as well as discussing regional and international issues of shared interest.

The ambassador conveyed an official invitation from President Sisi for Burhan to attend the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum on November 1, which Burhan expressed eagerness to attend and meet with Sisi.

The meeting also covered Egypt’s efforts to restore security and stability in Sudan, highlighting the country’s regional and international initiatives to present an accurate picture of the situation in Sudan, protect its interests, uphold sovereignty, and safeguard national institutions.

Additionally, the meeting explored joint coordination on the Nile water file, including hosting 2+2 meetings between the foreign and irrigation ministers of both countries. Ambassador Salah confirmed that a technical Egyptian team had arrived in Khartoum to rehabilitate and maintain several bridges, underlining Egypt’s continued efforts to resolve the Sudanese crisis, emphasizing that Sudanese security is a red line and a vital extension of Egyptian security.
