
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio held separate calls with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy and French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian on Tuesday, discussing developments in Sudan among other issues of mutual interest.
State Department spokesperson Tomi Bigot reported that Rubio and Lammy discussed Hamas, the situation in Gaza, and efforts to secure the return of all hostages. They reaffirmed their commitment to preventing Iran from obtaining or developing nuclear weapons and agreed to continue working together to resolve the Russia-Ukraine war through lasting negotiations. They also discussed ongoing cooperation on Iran, Sudan, and Lebanon.
In a separate call with French Foreign Minister Le Drian, Rubio reiterated cooperation on diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict through negotiated solutions while taking measures to ensure lasting peace. The two ministers also addressed developments in Iran, Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
