Mohamed Abdel Rahman Al-Nair, spokesperson for the Sudan Liberation Army, reported ongoing rescue efforts in the village of Tarsin, struck by a landslide following heavy rains in the Jebel Marra region.
Al-Nair told the press on Thursday that rescue teams, led by Mujeeb Abdel Rahman, head of the SLA’s civil administration, are working alongside residents of nearby villages who responded to calls for help.
A village elder, speaking via video, said that around 370 bodies have been recovered and buried, with searches continuing to retrieve additional remains trapped under rocks and soil. Volunteers from the emergency response teams in Qolo and Tawila, assisting in Tarsin, reported that approximately 5,000 livestock were buried under the landslide.
