Sudan’s Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism, Khalid Al-Aisr, asserted the government’s determination to liberate all citizens in Darfur from the grip of rebel militias. Speaking to BBC Arabic, he noted that Sudan’s armed forces previously reclaimed Khartoum, Al Jazirah, and Sennar within two years, covering areas comparable in size to Western Europe.
Al-Aisr stressed that the violations committed by the rebel militias in Darfur and Kordofan mirror past abuses in Khartoum and Al Jazirah, and the government does not differentiate between its citizens, upholding social justice and equality.
He noted that the government sacrifices heroes daily to free the country from militias and restore normalcy in Darfur, describing the past unrest as a global conspiracy.
Al-Aisr highlighted ongoing government efforts to repair the damage caused by previous policies, rebuild the state, and conduct operations alongside civilian teams to provide services to citizens.
He criticized the international community for mislabeling the conflict as a war between two parties, insisting it is instead a destructive militia assault against Sudanese citizens.
Al-Aisr called for strengthening the national armed forces and integrating all supporting units under the constitutional military to defeat the militias, emphasizing broad public backing for these initiatives. He dismissed claims of Islamist control over the government as false and reiterated that the government’s approach is based on national sovereignty, citizens’ welfare, and a clear roadmap for militia disarmament in coordination with the United Nations.
