Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council mourned the victims of the El-Fasher mosque attack, describing it as “a crime that shames humanity.”
In a statement, the Council said more than 70 worshippers were killed while performing dawn prayers, targeted by what it called “the terrorist RSF militia.”
“The Council mourns to the Sudanese people a group of defenseless, righteous citizens who answered their Lord’s call inside His house,” the statement read. “This criminal militia has repeatedly targeted civilians, showing no regard for human rights organizations, nor respect for regional or international conventions that prohibit attacks on civilians and vital infrastructure.”
The Council condemned the assault as part of the RSF’s systematic targeting of civilians “in full view of the world,” offering prayers for the dead and recovery for the wounded.
