The United States, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia condemned the drone strike by the Rapid Support Forces militia on a mosque in Al-Fashir, which claimed 75 lives.
Masoud Boulos, U.S. adviser on African and Middle Eastern affairs, said, “The United States strongly condemns the horrific attack on worshippers gathered for prayer in Al-Fashir mosque, tragically killing 75 people.” He described the strike as a stark reminder of the urgent need for peace and stability in Sudan.
Boulos reaffirmed U.S. commitment to supporting efforts to end the cycle of violence, protect civilians, and advance just and lasting peace in Sudan.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry condemned the attack, highlighting it as a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and rejecting any targeting of places of worship or civilians.
Saudi Arabia also condemned the attack on the Al-Daraja mosque in Al-Fashir, emphasizing that it constitutes a grave breach of international humanitarian law. The Kingdom called for an end to the war in Sudan, protection of civilians, and adherence to the Jeddah Declaration.
