Residents in El Fasher, North Darfur, reported on Sunday that all water sources in the city have ceased functioning, leaving trapped families in increasingly dire conditions amid ongoing clashes.
Local residents told Darfur24 that continuous shelling of residential neighborhoods and markets has put all private water sources and markets out of service. In the Al-Daraja district, most water sources have stopped working due to shelling and the RSF’s advance into the Diqaqai and Al-Furusiyya neighborhoods late last week.
A resident in Al-Furusiyya, requesting anonymity, said that all local wells had ceased functioning due to RSF incursions, forcing residents—including well owners—to flee entirely.
Meanwhile, health sources told Darfur24 that 95% of hospitals and medical centers in the city are out of service, with severe shortages of medical supplies and mass departure of healthcare staff, exacerbating the deteriorating health conditions.
They also noted a rising number of deaths among wounded and sick patients from hunger-related illnesses, particularly affecting pregnant women, people with chronic diseases, and those injured in shelling, amid the absence of medical care and medicines.
A health source at Al-Saudi Hospital reported that over the past 72 hours, the city’s medical facilities received at least 150 dead and dozens of wounded, including victims of shelling and RSF drone strikes targeting worshippers in two mosques in western El Fasher.
The source warned of the worsening humanitarian situation in El Fasher if the fighting continues, especially the critical healthcare conditions.
