Arteta Expects More From Eze After First Arsenal Goal

Eberechi Eze opened his scoring account for Arsenal in their 2-0 win over Port Vale in the English League Cup on Wednesday. Manager Mikel Arteta said the attacking midfielder would deliver more “magical moments” as he continues to settle in with his new teammates.
Eze, who joined Arsenal from Crystal Palace last month in a deal worth around £68 million ($91.52 million), struck in the eighth minute with a fine finish against the third-tier side before Leandro Trossard sealed the victory late on.
Arteta told reporters that Eze looked “calm and composed” in possession against a very organized opponent.
“He played centrally against a team that clearly set up in a 5-4-1, very compact. It wasn’t easy to find spaces, but when he’s on the ball, he has that ability,” Arteta said.
“He needs more time with these players to understand the timing, especially the things he needs to do,” he added.
“Then those actions will be more consistent and better for the team. Overall, he is excellent and can bring even more.”
“In the end, what we want is to put him in positions and spaces where he can produce those magical moments and help the team.”
Arsenal will face Brighton in the next round of the League Cup and travel to Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday.
