Mohamed Zakaria, spokesperson for the Democratic Bloc, said that international involvement in Sudan has been, and continues to be, a major factor in complicating the crisis.
In comments to Asharq, Zakaria called for coordinating international efforts under the umbrella of the African Union, to avoid conflicting initiatives that could negatively prolong and deepen the crisis.
“We do not insist on excluding any party from the negotiation or dialogue process,” he said, adding: “Our vision is for Sudanese themselves to lead the dialogue through a national mechanism that includes everyone—left and right alike. No party should be barred from participation.”
Zakaria stressed that the bloc does not recognize what is termed a “foundational government,” noting: “What applies to such entities applies equally to the RSF militia, which should be included only within the framework of security or military negotiations.”
