In a significant field development, military sources confirmed the withdrawal of forces loyal to rebel leader Abdel Aziz Al-Hilu from battlefronts in Al-Fashir following financial disputes with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) leadership.
According to the sources, the withdrawn units had been promised substantial financial rewards for participating alongside the RSF, but the militia leadership failed to honor its commitments, prompting a full withdrawal. The forces have reportedly returned to South Kordofan to regroup away from the Darfur frontlines.
Observers see this development as evidence of deepening divisions within the RSF’s network of allied armed groups, and a sign of the militia’s declining ability to meet its financial and logistical obligations amid mounting military pressure.
Army leaders have described such withdrawals as further proof of the RSF’s weakening position and the approach of a decisive victory, expressing confidence that “the coming days will bring triumph and a near deliverance by God’s will.”
