Health Ministry: Dengue Cases Decrease While Malaria Cases Rise

Dr. Ali Babiker, Deputy Minister of Federal Health, praised the performance of the Emergency Operations Center during ongoing emergencies, urging more effective measures. He noted that Week 41 saw a decrease in dengue fever cases but an increase in malaria infections.

The announcement came during a meeting at the Federal Emergency Operations Center on Tuesday in Khartoum, reviewing the nation’s health situation and interventions carried out by various departments during Week 41.

Dr. Babiker highlighted the need to enhance vector control campaigns, provide essential supplies, lab testing, and medical supplies, emphasizing coordination with the Federal Ministry of Finance and partners to fill operational gaps. He noted that such campaigns contribute to reducing dengue and malaria rates.

The Deputy Minister also announced upcoming visits to states to assess challenges and prepare early, strategic, and urgent solutions. He called on state governors to support vector control efforts while maintaining routine operations. Surveillance reports indicated a decline in cholera and dengue cases, alongside an increase in malaria infections.
