Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris disclosed new information regarding bilateral talks with the United States and denied that Washington had pressured Sudan to sit down and negotiate with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
In an interview with Al-Jazeera Net he said talks with Washington continue because there are mutual interests between the two countries.
He affirmed that the RSF will not be able, by its recent escalation in Al-Fashir and Bara, to “twist the arm of the government,” and insisted that Al-Fashir will remain beyond their control. “Even if they enter it, they will be expelled from it as they were from Khartoum and other cities,” he said.
He expressed hope for the imminent start of an inclusive Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue — excluding only those who refuse or have committed crimes against the people — as an effective tool to secure lasting peace and prepare the country for comprehensive and sustainable development.
