Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan denounced the horrific scenes emerging from Sudan as “a grave test for humanity,” warning that silence in the face of injustice makes one complicit.
Speaking at the TRT World Forum 2025 in Istanbul, Erdoğan stood before a map of Sudan to highlight the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Darfur, particularly in El Fasher.
“We cannot remain among those who stay silent in the face of oppression. Every person with a conscience must raise their voice against tyranny,” Erdoğan said.
“No one with a moral compass can accept the massacres targeting civilians in El Fasher,” he added, condemning the atrocities in the strongest terms.
He stressed that the footage shared by journalists “shakes the conscience of humanity,” underlining the vital role of the press in exposing the truth. Erdoğan called for an immediate halt to the attacks and the protection of innocent civilians, saying: “Let no man shed his brother’s blood, and let not children, women, and civilians die — this is a basic demand of humanity.”
Erdoğan affirmed Turkey’s readiness to support and protect victims, stating that “observation alone is not enough — there must be intervention and support.”
He urged the international community not to ignore the massacres in El Fasher and to take “concrete and urgent steps.”
“It is time,” he said, “for humanity to take responsibility.”
