IOM: Over 70,000 Displaced from El Fasher

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) estimates that more than 70,000 people have fled El Fasher and surrounding villages in North Darfur following the RSF’s takeover of the city, amid reports of horrific human rights abuses.

According to a report from IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM), approximately 70,894 individuals have been displaced, most relocating within El Fasher and to the town of Tawila. The organization cautioned that the figures are preliminary and subject to change due to the rapidly evolving security and displacement dynamics.

On November 1 and 2 alone, DTM teams recorded the movement of an additional 8,631 people from El Fasher, noting that major routes to and from the city are highly insecure, hindering mobility.

The report said the situation in North Darfur remains tense and highly unstable, with ongoing insecurity and continuous population movements. The DTM continues to monitor developments closely and will provide further updates on displacement patterns across Sudan.
