Sudan’s Sovereign Council Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, chaired an emergency meeting of the Security and Defense Council on Tuesday in Khartoum to discuss the latest security developments across the country.
According to Al-Muhaqiq newspaper, the meeting reviewed the political, military, and security situation on all fronts, highlighting the grave and unprecedented violations committed by the rebel militia against unarmed civilians in El-Fasher — atrocities condemned by the international community, though key institutions have failed to enforce related resolutions, particularly those concerning the arms embargo and the lifting of the siege on the city.
The council also discussed the humanitarian situation, current security threats, and preparations for ongoing and future military operations, as well as initiatives proposed by friendly countries.
The meeting expressed appreciation for sincere efforts aimed at ending the suffering of the Sudanese people caused by the “terrorist rebel militia” and thanked the U.S. government, represented by Presidential Advisor Masad Polis, for his contributions.
The council welcomed any effort that could help alleviate Sudanese suffering and called for nationwide mobilization to support the armed forces in defeating the rebel militia. It further stressed the need for a clear government framework to facilitate humanitarian aid, support relief work, and restore peace and stability nationwide. A committee was formed to draft this framework.
