Central Bank of Sudan Issues New SDG 2,000 and SDG 500 Banknotes

The Central Bank of Sudan (CBOS) has officially announced the issuance of a new SDG 2,000 banknote and a second edition of the SDG 500 note.

According to the announcement, the step is in accordance with Article 6/A of the CBOS Act of 2002, as amended, and falls within the bank’s mandate to protect the national currency, maintain exchange rate stability, and support overall economic stability.

Features of the SDG 2,000 Note

Dimensions: 160 × 72 mm

Design Theme: Livestock and relics of ancient Sudanese civilizations (Apedemak Temple)

Primary Colors: Shades of green and yellow

Watermark: Full image of the Secretary Bird (Sagittarius serpentarius) and denomination number “2000”

Front: Depicts livestock and agriculture, with denomination numbers on the top left and bottom right corners

Raised Printing: On animals, the phrases “Central Bank of Sudan” and “Two Thousand Sudanese Pounds”, denomination numbers, and tactile marks for the visually impaired

Back: Features the Apedemak Temple from ancient Nubian civilization

Security Thread: Glossy and visually moving under light

Latent Image: Cotton boll

Serial Numbers: Printed on the front

Features of the SDG 500 Note (Second Edition)

Dimensions: 156 × 66 mm

Design Theme: Confluence of the Niles, the Presidential Palace, and relics of ancient Sudanese civilizations

Primary Colors: Shades of blue and brown

Watermark: Full Secretary Bird and denomination number “500”

Front: Old Presidential Palace and ancient relics, with denomination numbers on the top left and bottom right

Raised Printing: On the palace, with the phrases “Central Bank of Sudan” and “Five Hundred Sudanese Pounds”, denomination numbers, and tactile marks for the visually impaired

Back: Depicts the meeting point of the Blue and White Niles
