
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Atti stressed the need for coordinated regional and international efforts to ensure a comprehensive humanitarian truce and the opening of safe corridors for humanitarian aid to affected areas in Sudan.
This statement came during a phone call from Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov as part of ongoing coordination and consultations between the two countries on bilateral relations and regional and international issues of mutual interest, according to a statement by Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khalaf.
The spokesperson noted that regarding Sudan, both ministers affirmed the importance of preserving the Sudanese state and its national institutions, maintaining Sudan’s unity, and rejecting any parallel entities. Abdel-Atti reiterated Egypt’s consistent position supporting Sudan’s unity, stability, and national institutions.
Abdel-Atti also outlined Egypt’s efforts within the framework of the Quad Mechanism aimed at achieving calm and reaching a comprehensive ceasefire, condemning the severe violations in Al-Fashir and expressing deep concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation. He reaffirmed Egypt’s continued provision of humanitarian assistance to the Sudanese people.
