Erdogan: Turkey Will Continue Efforts to Ensure Peace and Security in Sudan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has pledged to continue his country’s diplomatic efforts to help achieve peace and stability in Sudan.

Speaking to reporters on his return from Azerbaijan on Saturday, Erdoğan said: “We will continue our diplomatic efforts to ensure peace and security in Sudan. We cannot simply stand by and watch what is happening there.”

He added: “No action can succeed without a plan — planning comes first, then implementation. Sudan is a nation that has long looked to Turkey for help, and every tragedy that unfolds there pains our hearts.”

Erdoğan noted that thousands of people have lost their lives in Sudan over the past two years, with millions displaced or exiled, and children suffering from hunger and disease.

He expressed hope that the conflict would end soon and that bloodshed between “brothers in Sudan” would cease, saying: “What is happening weighs heavily on the conscience of humanity. We believe this conflict must end as soon as possible through dialogue. Our responsibility in this regard is a grave one.”
