Afwerki Affirms Solidarity with the Sudanese People

Vice Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council, Malik Agar, met on Friday with Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki.

Agar briefed President Afwerki on developments in Sudan, particularly the humanitarian and military situation, as well as Sudan’s position on international initiatives.

He explained that the meeting also addressed regional and international developments and attempts to seize the resources of African nations. Agar affirmed Sudan’s readiness to cooperate with Eritrea and all countries in the region to establish a strategy to combat the phenomenon of “soft occupation,” which, he said, is carried out through agents and proxies within African states themselves.

For his part, the Eritrean President expressed his solidarity with the government and people of Sudan, noting that Eritrea is hosting large numbers of Sudanese who consider it their second home—without any restrictions or conditions.

At the end of the visit, the Vice Chairman of the Sovereignty Council held a meeting with the Sudanese community in Eritrea and briefed them on the latest developments in Sudan.
