In his Security Council address, Hudson characterized the Sudanese war as an international–regional conflict, no longer a domestic dispute or a fight between two generals. He highlighted UAE support for the RSF, including logistical and regional facilitation via Chad, Libya, South Sudan, CAR, and Somaliland, directly fueling the militia’s war against the Sudanese state.
Hudson warned that failure by the Security Council to act decisively against this external intervention would be seen as a green light for the international network sustaining the conflict, potentially sparking new conflicts in other regional states, threatening regional and global peace and security.
He urged Council members to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities by taking effective measures to halt arms flows and external support, and to hold accountable those fueling the war, as a prerequisite for any serious path toward ending the fighting and protecting civilians in Sudan.
