Sudan Condemns UAE Support to Southern Yemeni Forces and Backs Saudi Efforts

The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the UAE’s support for the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Yemen, labeling it as support for terrorism and an undermining of legitimacy.

In a statement on Tuesday, Sudan affirmed its full support for Saudi Arabia’s efforts to restore legitimacy in Yemen and protect its territorial integrity. The ministry stressed its alignment with Saudi initiatives to combat terrorism and promote regional security and stability, urging all parties to exercise restraint and resolve disputes through constructive dialogue.

Earlier on Tuesday, Saudi-UAE relations escalated after Riyadh accused Abu Dhabi of sending weapons to Yemen without coordination with forces supporting legitimate authorities. The coalition’s joint command conducted a limited airstrike targeting these shipments transported from Fujairah to Mukalla to support STC forces.

Saudi Foreign Ministry statements described UAE actions as “highly dangerous” and inconsistent with the coalition’s principles. Riyadh demanded UAE troop withdrawal within 24 hours and condemned attempts to pressure the STC into operations in Hadramout and Al-Mahrah. The Yemeni government supported President Rashad Al-Alimi’s decision to expel UAE forces, commending Saudi efforts to contain escalation and protect Yemeni interests.
