The National Assembly of the Republic of Chad has strongly condemned an armed incursion carried out by elements affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces militia into Chadian territory.
The Chadian government had announced on Thursday the killing of seven of its soldiers during an armed clash with an armed group along the border with Sudan, describing the incident in an official statement as a blatant violation of the country’s territorial integrity and state sovereignty.
The National Assembly reaffirmed its unequivocal condemnation of what it described as “orchestrated” incursions, citing their direct impact on peace and security and their clear breach of the most basic principles of international law and the norms governing relations between states.
The Assembly called on the Chadian people to uphold national unity and rally around constitutional institutions, while urging the government to continue its efforts to safeguard the country’s territorial integrity and preserve national sovereignty in the face of any attempts to destabilize the country.
