The Khartoum State Security Coordination Committee, chaired by Khartoum Governor Ahmed Othman Hamza, on Thursday reviewed the overall security efforts carried out by locality security committees, joint patrols, and the state’s security cell, which conducted a number of successful security operations over the past period.
The operations resulted in the arrest of several suspects accused of collaborating with the militia, the seizure of several unlicensed vehicles without number plates, and the confiscation of quantities of weapons.
The committee stressed the importance of continuing joint security campaigns and intensifying nighttime patrols with the participation of all regular forces, in order to reduce crime rates, pursue outlaws, and bring them to justice, contributing to stability and the protection of citizens and their property.
In press statements, Khartoum State Police Director and committee rapporteur Lt. Gen. (Police) Siraj Al-Din Mansour said the committee reviewed a set of security measures and procedures expected to effectively contribute to achieving security stability and curbing negative phenomena.
He added that the meeting heard a technical report prepared by specialists in electronic surveillance, which included an integrated plan to cover all localities of the state through a comprehensive camera monitoring system linked to field patrols. The system would help track unlicensed vehicles, monitor violations, and strengthen security control.
Mansour also confirmed that the relevant authorities are working to enforce the ban on motorcycles and carrying weapons, describing this as one of the key measures to reduce crime and prevent the use of illegal means to undermine security.
He noted that Khartoum State has witnessed noticeable security stability recently, reflected in a decline in criminal reports and crime rates due to the integration and coordination of efforts among various security agencies.
The police chief stressed that security agencies will continue to carry out their duties to extend security and enforce state authority, affirming that citizen safety will remain the committee’s top priority and that efforts will continue at an accelerated pace until all negative phenomena are eliminated and sustainable security is achieved across all localities of the state.
