Saudi Arabia Condemns Criminal Attacks by Militia in Kordofan

Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the criminal attacks carried out by the Rapid Support Forces militia against Al-Kuwaik Military Hospital, a World Food Programme relief convoy, and a bus carrying displaced civilians. The attacks resulted in the killing of dozens of unarmed civilians, including women and children, and caused damage to facilities and humanitarian convoys in North and South Kordofan states.

In a statement, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Kingdom calls on the Rapid Support Forces to immediately cease these violations and to uphold their moral and humanitarian duty to ensure the safe delivery of relief aid to those in need, in accordance with international and humanitarian law, as well as the Jeddah Declaration (Commitment to Protect Civilians in Sudan) signed on May 11, 2023.

The Kingdom also reaffirmed its position in support of Sudan’s unity, security, and stability, stressing the importance of preserving its legitimate institutions. It reiterated its rejection of foreign interference and condemned the continued smuggling of illegal weapons, mercenaries, and foreign fighters by some parties, despite their stated support for a political solution — a practice it described as a major factor in prolonging the conflict and deepening the suffering of the Sudanese people.
