Minister of Cabinet Affairs Urges Banks to Reduce Cash

Minister of Cabinet Affairs Dr. Lamia Abdelghafar met Tuesday in her office with Faisal Islamic Bank CEO Amin Fadel El-Tayeb Shibeika and other bank officials.

She stressed the bank’s important national role in development and its microfinance programs that help citizens meet basic needs.

She praised Faisal Bank’s early return to the capital, describing it as a sign of stability and a key contribution to reconstruction and the restoration of banking services. She called on all commercial banks to help normalize banking operations, provide financing for citizens’ needs, and reduce reliance on cash in line with the government’s digital transformation agenda.

For their part, the bank’s delegation said they were working to address obstacles to microfinance, noting that the coming period would see expanded financing activities and the opening of five new branches in Khartoum.
